Extra! Extra!

Here is Legal Services of Northern California’s Spring Newsletter! Don’t miss the Valentine Run recap, and be sure to mark you calendars for the May 6, 2014 Big Day of Giving event. LSNC is proud to offer quality legal tools and services to our community and our clients; Carol’s case was particularly gratifying – read all about her story and more, here.

Despite the storm, the ‘Race for Justice’ was a torrential success!

On Saturday, February 8, 2014, hundreds of people gathered to run, walk, jog, or stroll their way to a somewhat soggy finish at the 11th annual Valentine Run/Walk. “Today is our chance to act like 5 year olds, and play in the puddles,” said one good-natured participant!

Spirited teams from Orrick, Murphy Austin Adams and Schoenfeld, and the fun-loving PBGators braved the elements to support the cause, reinforcing their efforts to raise funds through pledges in addition to sponsorships. Other fundraising teams from the legal community included the Asian Pacific Bar Association and SacLEGAL. Individuals also earned pledges that will aid LSNC in providing important programs and advocacy to the community. LSNC Managing Attorney Bill Kennedy raised the most funds
as an individual and Team Abello (LSNC employee Jayne Burkman’s family) was the highest-earning team.

Several law firms and other businesses from around the community sponsored the event, resulting in record-breaking funds being raised to support the programs and advocacy provided by Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC):

Platinum Heart (Title) Sponsors: Downey Brand, Seyfarth Shaw

Gold Heart Sponsors: DLA Piper, Fleet Feet Sports

Silver Heart Sponsors: Jay-Allen Eisen Law Corp, Orrick, US Bank, Saucony

Copper Heart Sponsors: Murphy Campbell Alliston Quinn, Remy Moose Manley, Poswall White & Cutler, Rothschild Wishek & Sands, Lincoln Law School, K.W. Davis, Country Club Plaza Mall, Macy’s, Whole Foods

Bronze Heart Sponsors: Boutin Jones, Cook Brown, Hanson Bridgett, Olson Hagel & Fishburn, Radoslovich Krogh, Stoel Rives, Wilke Fleury Hoffelt Gould & Birney, Wilcoxen Callaham, Allaye Chan, JAMS, Litter Mendelson, Marcus Deposition Reporting, SMUD, Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, Veritext Legal Solutions, Murphy Austin & Schoenfeld.

All in all, the “Great Storm” of 2014 couldn’t keep the heartfelt spirit of the Valentine Run/Walk down! LSNC development staff members, with help from our dedicated Sponsor Committee, are already working on plans for the 12th  Annual Valentine Run/Walk.

Mark your calendars today for Saturday, February 14, 2015!
